Open Roles
3D Environment Artist
(Lead/Solo role)
Contract Role: Canada Preferred
Our Values
Well-Centered Studios is committed to creating an inclusive, supportive, and collaborative work environment. We believe the best work comes from diverse perspectives and lived experiences. We welcome applicants from all backgrounds.
About Sense & Center
Sense & Center is a mobile-first, interactive app introducing a new category: Restorative Play. We create immersive, interactive journeys that help people move from stress to ease through gentle, sensory-guided experiences.
The Role
We're seeking an experienced 3D Environment Generalist (5+ years) to step into our pipeline and bring our first prototype across the finish line. Our visual style and technical groundwork are established, and we need a focused, autonomous artist to take over production, build out the remaining assets, and drive our demo to a high-quality finish.
We are a small team doing work with purpose, and you’ll be building experiences that genuinely support mental health and well-being. If you’d like to be part of a team creating technology designed to restore rather than deplete, this is an opportunity to apply your craft to something meaningful.
This is a self-directed role where you'll work collaboratively with our Engineering team, Art Director, and Creative Director. Ideal for a curious artist who loves exploring new problem spaces and thrives in a thoughtful environment alongside deeply experienced AAA industry veterans.
What You'll Be Creating
Stylized natural environments (forests, meadows, etc.)
Environmental props and interactive/animated elements (flowers, trees, water features)
Particle effects and luminous visual elements
Environmental and shader-based animation (wind, water, light play)
Assets optimized for mobile performance
What We're Looking For
Strong portfolio demonstrating stylized 3D environments
Experience working independently or as a lead
Experience with Unity workflows and pipelines
Lighting, VFX and particle system experience
Environmental animation skills
Ability to create assets optimized for mobile
Understanding of lighting, atmosphere, and emotional tone
Self-starter who is comfortable working proactively and collaboratively in an iterative startup environment
Nice to Have
Mobile game development experience
Interest in wellness, mindfulness, or therapeutic design
Location: Remote - Canada preferred (Pacific timezone)
Duration: Part-time hourly. Minimum 200 hours with potential for extension
Compensation: CAD $50-$65/hr, commensurate with regional market rates, time-zone crossover alignment, and experience.
